Supporting Characters

Neal

Yeah, that’s me. Usually my gags revolve around the complexities of cartooning or making my other projects. I seldom get directly involved because it’s much more fun to watch the other characters figure things out for themselves.

Fun Fact: this is about as much of me as you’re going to see because I value my anonymity.

Cynical Sam

You know how everyone here is upbeat and cheerful? Cynical Sam makes a living being the opposite of that. As dark and bitter as his ever-present coffee, this guy provides a much needed realistic perspective (or so he claims).

Fun Fact: by definition, he should be “Pessimist Sam” or something similar, but it’s too late to change his name at this point.

Brian

A mutual friend of Nathan and Matthew, he has the gaming skills of the latter and the even keel of the former. Capable of discussing deep comic book lore with the best of them and lending a hand when friends are hard to come by, Brian is a pop-culture guru who can be counted on for help or obscure trivia whenever it’s needed most.

Fun Fact: great at karaoke… or so he thinks.

Newtman

It’s a bird! It’s a plane! No, it’s Newtman, the self-proclaimed hero of New Year’s! Sporting a cape and mask, he flies around helping people realize their potential and reach for their dreams.

Fun Fact: he used to call himself “Newter-Shooter” before rebranding.

The Daily Sob Story

Not a character per se, this is the local news station, which is always on the scene to report the latest happenings. Its employees include (from top to bottom) Madison the news anchor, Carl Stormsby the weatherman, and Oliver Outback, who is often pummeled by the wildlife he’s reporting on.

Fun Fact: the name is often abbreviated as “D.S.S.”
